Who I am
Growing up in Australia, my parents were both primary (elementary) school teachers who tried convincing me to not teach. I come from a very sporty family, with tennis and Australian Rules Football both massive parts of my childhood and early adulthood. My one older sister eventually became a teacher too. Therefore, my wife, my sister and my parents are all teachers of the younger students.
After teaching and leading in Australia for seven years, I decided to go abroad and have taught in Singapore, where I became part of the senior leadership team, South Korea, Saudi Arabia and am currently teaching and team leader in Germany. I am on this life journey with my wife, Naomi, and our two amazing children. My daughter was born in Ireland and my son was born in Singapore. Both children immediately attended the 'waldkindergarten' (forest kindergarten), where they thrived and learned how to connect with nature on a whole new level, as did our whole family.
I am constantly trying to improve myself. Through my experience with sustainability, systems thinking and discovering my own vocation, I have become more aware of who I am and who I can be. Since I began teaching, I have been learning about and interested in systems thinking and have become a Compass Education facilitator to enhance my own ability to influence change within my own spheres of influence to make the world a more sustainable place. I am currently working through the incredibly enlightening and educational experience of the Global Citizenship Certificate with a range of incredible people from around the world, from the dynamic and extremely knowledgeable Inspire Citizens team led by the inspirational Steve Sostak.
I am passionate about sport, learning, inspiring others, family, traveling, to learn, and to grow. The one thing that is imperative to me as a human is to make positive connections that are impactful for myself and for those around me.
So who am I?, I am a learner, leader, connector, colleague, father, son, husband, and friend.
